Pakistan fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi has been ruled out of the remaining matches of Big Bash League (BBL) 15, a development he confirmed himself through a post on social media on Tuesday.
Representing Brisbane Heat, Shaheen took part in their match against Adelaide Strikers on Saturday, 27 December. However, his outing was cut short as he managed to bowl only three overs before leaving the field.
The left-arm pacer appeared uncomfortable during the 14th over of the Strikers’ chase and was seen limping off while signaling pain in his right knee.
Earlier, Brisbane Heat issued an official update on his condition, confirming that Shaheen has started his rehabilitation process and will not be available for the upcoming fixture.
“Shaheen Shah Afridi (knee) has commenced his rehab and will be reassessed once the team returns from Adelaide,” the franchise stated in a post on its official Facebook page.
